Vitamin E is a product that is meant to promote overall health and protection against external factors. The claim that the manufacturer makes is that Vitamin E can fight against naturally-occurring damaging factors, also known as free radicals, by incorporating in fat-based tissues and stabilizing cell membrane structures, thus reducing the risk of cellular damage. This is a product that can benefit people of all ages, as it supposedly has an anti-aging effect on the human body.

Vitamin E is manufactured by Pharmavite under the brand name Nature Made, one of the three brands the company holds. The company has received large amounts of recognition for its manufacturing practices, being the first supplement producer that earned the approval of the US Pharmacopeial Convention, which sets the standards for pharmaceutical products in the United States.

1) Vitamin E at a Glance

Vitamin E is a vitamin supplement that is meant to act as an antioxidant. Vitamin E is known for being a fat-soluble antioxidant that can easily be incorporated in fat-based tissues of the body. Its mechanism of action as an antioxidant is very simple and effective, incorporating itself in cell membranes where it prevents free-radical action by reacting with them. The resulting substances can easily be oxidized by various naturally-occurring compounds, turning the free radicals into harmless substances, natural to the human body.

Another relevant property of vitamin E is its ability to prevent cellular damage by strengthening cell membranes, which is why this vitamin is so popular in skin care products, due to the anti-aging effect that it brings with it.

2) Ingredients of Vitamin E

Vitamin E contains: d-Alpha Tocopherol, Gelatin, Soybean Oil, Glycerin, water, and Mixed Tocopherols.

3) Does Vitamin E Work?

Vitamin E delivers 400 IU of d-Alpha Tocopherol per soft gel. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin, which is typically measured in International Units (IU). Each soft gel capsule of this formula delivers around 260mg of vitamin E. Supplementation can have a positive effect on one’s health.

Most people recognize Vitamin E as a powerful antioxidant, but they are not aware of its other essential biological functions such as supporting enzymatic activities, gene expression, and neurological function. This vitamin is also critical for cell signaling, ensures the proper functioning of the reproductive and endocrine glands, and also influences the metabolism of fats, calcium, phosphorus and the synthesis of proteins. Being an antioxidant, this vitamin prevents the propagation of free radicals in tissues. By neutralizing oxidative stress, certain diseases can be avoided, and the aging process slowed down.

It is important to note that only 30% of this vitamin is absorbed from food at the internal level. Some people with an unhealthy diet may not get enough of this vitamin strictly from the diet. Although deficiency is pretty rare, the damaged caused on the body is irreversible.

The suggested dosage is one to two soft gel capsules daily, preferably with food.

7) Directions For Taking Vitamin E

This substance is not recommended for people taking blood thinners, lipid-lowering drugs or undergoing chemotherapy, as it may reduce the efficiency of the treatment or trigger adverse effects. The recommended dose of Vitamin E is one or two capsules daily, taken with a meal.

8) Conclusion

Vitamin E has experienced a large amount of popularity in the supplement world, since it has been revealed that its protective properties are as potent as advertised. Nature Made decided to venture into producing this supplement, seeing as their manufacturing quality is approved by many organizations, earning them more trust from customers than other companies might receive.

As with any supplement, you should consult a doctor before taking Vitamin E. The chance of adverse effects is considered very low for this type of supplement, but a healthy amount of caution is always advised. You might also want to consider comparing this product to other, similar vitamin E supplements available on the market.

I am not sure about Vitamin E benefits, but maybe it’s something “on the inside”. I usually care a lot about my health and I take a lot of supplements. This one may bee effective in the long run I guess
