Desyrel is a prescription drug stated to help reduce depression, OCD, agoraphobia, and panic attacks. This product is manufactured by the pharmaceutical company Bristol-Meyers Squibb and its partner company Apothecon.

Please note that this drug is no longer being manufactured for sale in the United States and Canada. However, this product may still be available under its brand name Trazodone.

Desyrel is a prescription form of medication, and those should only take that it was prescribed for. Patients may receive free samples of this drug before the full treatment is initialized.

Nutrition Facts

1) Desyrel Nutrition Facts

Desyrel or Trazodone includes the following ingredients: trazodone hydrochloride, microcrystalline cellulose, yellow ferric oxide, magnesium stearate, sodium starch glycolate, pregelatinized starch, and stearic acid.

2) Does Desyrel Work?

Desyrel is a chemical drug that falls in the category of antidepressants. It is stated to help regulate the chemicals in the brain.

This formula contains Trazodone, a “psychoactive compound with sedative and antidepressant properties. Its mechanism of action in humans is not clear.”

Although multiple clinical tests have been conducted, it is still unclear how this drug interacts with the human body. Still, it is believed to have “therapeutic action.” Some scientists also believe that this drug has some effects on the body’s sodium channels.

The manufacturer provides some details on how this drug is supposed to work. However, the exact process is unclear, and many consumers may remain reticent in taking this medication due to this aspect.

Also, we would like to point out that prescription drugs are often viewed as harsh treatment.

There may be other options available. For instance, it is possible to find various natural supplements and herbal remedies purported to balance moods. We recommend looking for a product that comes in convenient oral capsules and offers the latest technological advances.

Desyrel is offered in 50 mg, 100 mg, 150 mg, and 300 mg tablets. The website recommends that the treatment be taken every day, even if the patient feels better.

Anyone taking MAOIs shouldn’t use this type of medication. Women who are pregnant or nursing should avoid Desyrel.

Like all prescription drugs, this product has been associated with some side effects, including nausea, vomiting, insomnia, irritability, dry mouth, constipation, diarrhea, speech changes, tremors, body shakes, and blurred vision, dark colored urine, and heart palpitations.

Cost

3) How Much Does Desyrel Cost?

Desyrel is a moderately priced medication. Most health insurance plans and prescription coverage programs will pay for Desyrel.

If you can’t afford the treatment, it is essential to let your doctor know as he may recommend some alternative therapies.

Bottom Line

4) Our Bottom Line

In the end, Desyrel is a prescription drug that may only be used with a doctor’s written consent. Even if a patient likes this product, it would be unobtainable if his doctor does not grant permission.

Fortunately, there are other options available on the market. We suggest looking into a mood balancer comprised of natural ingredients, which means no prescription is necessary.
