Prolamine Iodine is a dietary supplement meant to provide the body with an adequate intake of iodine to avoid thyroid gland related issues. The company currently manufacturing this product is Standard Process. This supplement promises to support a healthy thyroid function. The product is intended to boost iodine levels in the organism quickly, as stated by the manufacturing company.

Dr. Royal Lee founded Standard Process in 1929. Since then, Dr. Royal Lee has been working with his group of professional healthcare scientists to create new whole foods and herbal-based supplements.

The company claims that one of its goals is to provide individuals around the world with high-quality natural supplements intended to aid their health and to lead them to a healthier lifestyle.

Apart from iodine, Prolamine Iodine also contains calcium and magnesium. These two minerals have synergistic properties, meaning that they only benefit you when taken together. Separately, these two nutrients show little to no results.

Standard Process, as well as many other companies worldwide, has created an iodine-based supplement, aiming to sustain a healthy thyroid gland. However, how effective this blend is in comparison to others of the same kind is disputable.

Synopsis

1) Prolamine Iodine at a Glance

The thyroid gland is one of the largest endocrine glands in the human body. This gland is located in the neck. Its primary function is to produce energy for the body as well as proteins.

Besides, the thyroid gland also controls the body’s sensitivity towards other hormones. The thyroid gland also secretes its type of hormones, mostly growth hormones with metabolic regulatory functions.

The two most common thyroid-related issues are hyperthyroidism (an overly active thyroid gland) and hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid gland). Hyperthyroidism symptoms include palpitations, weight loss, thyroid goiter, excess sweating, protruding eyes, diarrhea, unusual sensitivity to heat, and muscle weakness.

What’s Inside?

2) What’s Inside Prolamine Iodine?

Prolamine Iodine contains the following ingredients: Calcium, Iodine, Calcium lactate, magnesium citrate, prolamine iodine (zein), cellulose, and calcium stearate.

3) What Does Prolamine Iodine Do?

An iodine deficiency can lead to a lot of thyroid-related problems such as hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. The thyroid is the largest endocrine gland in the body.

Its primary function is to control how the body uses energy. Other functions of the thyroid gland include: regulating hormone levels and protein making. Most of the thyroids’ hormones affect growth and the rate of metabolism.

The most common problems of the thyroid gland are hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid gland) and hyperthyroidism (an overly active thyroid gland).

Hyperthyroidism happens when the thyroid produces more thyroid hormones than it should. Individuals suffering from hyperthyroidism might experience palpitations, muscle weakness, diarrhea, goiter, and an unusual sensitivity to heat. Most of these symptoms are treatable with beta-blockers.

Hypothyroidism happens when the thyroid produces fewer thyroid hormones than it should. Individuals suffering from hypothyroidism might experience tiredness, cold intolerance, abnormal weight gain, and tiredness. This affliction can be treated with hormone replacement therapy.

Directions

7) Prolamine Iodine Directions

An iodine deficiency left untreated can lead to goiter, hypothyroidism, and even to pregnancy-related issues. A study made in the U.S. showed that a low level of iodine in pregnant women might be the cause of the mental retardation of the infant.

However, a higher than average intake of iodine has its risks as well. Some of these risks include: worsen hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, nodules, and even autoimmune diseases triggered by some thyroid-related issues.

Bottom Line

8) The Bottom Line – “Does it Work?”

Prolamine Iodine is a dietary supplement designed to support a healthy thyroid function. However, higher than usual intakes of iodine may have adverse effects on the individual’s body.

This product contains a higher iodine dosage meant to boost iodine levels in the body rapidly. Prolamine Iodine does not differ much from other supplements, either at a lower price or more expensive, available on the market nowadays.

The few customer testimonials available on the internet show that consumers seemed satisfied with the results they achieved after usage but that this is no long-term treatment due to its high concentration of iodine.

I’ve recently started taking these prolamine Iodine one for hypothyroidism and was told they will help with hot flashes too. I did read in some comments that it did just that so I’ve been hoping it would do the same for me and at the same time help my thyroid problems. But only after taking it for a week and a half woke up with a rash on my rash, forearms, and inner thighs. It got so bad I went to my family dr who did some bloodwork and found I was getting way too much iodine by taking this. I’ve had to stop taking it just until my rash goes away then dr said to come back let her redo the blood test then I can start taking it again but only if my blood work comes back good. If not ill have to stop it altogether. I really had my hopes up due to how bad my hot flashes have gotten and regular meds haven’t helped. My advice to anyone even considering taking this to please 1st ask your dr. It may be great for you but then it may be not. Check 1st with dr to save yourself from ending up with a rash from hell like I have.

Maybe try to cut these in half with a pill cutter. 300mcg daily is what most naturalpath health practitioners recommend. These tablets are twice that amount, 600mcg each.

I have been ordering these for about the last 2 years. I take them right after dinner. Since I eat organically and don\’t eat processed foods, I found that I was low in iodine. My napropath suggested this particular brand. The added benefit is that they seem to quell my night snacking, which is why I started taking them after dinner. I like to order from this company because the shipping is fast.

Since I’ve been eating real foods for about 5 years now and using only real sea salt, my blood tests showed under-active thyroid. The traditionally medically trained doctor told me I’m not low enough for medication and there’s nothing he can do. My naturopath doctor told me to take iodine tablets, 1 a day, and my numbers came back normal in a couple of months. I order these from Amazon to save a few bucks. Fast shipping, everything’s great.

Hi there
I have read on the internet that people in japan consume at least 15 mg of iodine per day through sea food and have much less cancer rates and most doctors recommend at least 7 mg of potassium iodide along with 5 mg of iodine for a healthy balance. I have also read that every cell in the body has some iodine and protects the body from toxic heavy metals like bromide and fluoride. and if your cells don’t carry this iodine within the cell. it could be the reason for cancers to develop within the body.

The Japanese have extremely high levels of Hashimoto’s cases, though, due to excessive iodine intake through their diets. That’s why it was one of their doctors who discovered it.
