Co-Q-Omega by Purity Products is a dietary supplement designed to promote healthy brain function. As mentioned by the manufacturing company Purity Products, additional benefits include support for normal cardiovascular and arterial health and support for beautiful, healthy skin.

The manufacturer also claims that the fish oil from which Omega-3 is extracted is molecularly distilled, ensuring the product is free of environmental contaminants such as PCBs, mercury, lead, and pesticides.

Purity Products is a company founded in 1993 by Jahn Levin in Great Neck, New York. The company is currently headquartered in Plainview, U.S.A.

The company’s primary goal is to provide individuals with high-quality nutritional supplements designed to improve health. Product lines include special men and women health products, sports and energy products, and formulas targeting specific conditions.

Summary

1) What is Co-Q-Omega?

Co-Q-Omega supports healthy brain function through the action of two main active ingredients: the naturally occurring vitamin-like substance Q10 (or Coenzyme Q10) and Omega-3 (with its two essential fatty acids EPA and DHA).

CoQ10 is present in most human body cells, particularly in the mitochondria, known as “the power plant” of the cell. Hence it plays an essential function in the process of energy production.

This explains why high concentrations of the coenzyme are found in the organs with the highest energy requirements, such as the liver, the heart, and the kidneys.

Numerous clinical studies have demonstrated its beneficial effects on the heart: it improves the heart’s pumping ability, blood circulation, increases tolerance to exercise, and improves the heart’s muscle tone.

Recent research has shown CoQ10 has powerful antioxidant properties and may protect cells from free-radical damage, including brain cells. Coenzyme Q10 is considered a generally safe substance, but overdosing can cause gastrointestinal problems.

Omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA are essential fatty acids that have blood-thinning properties. Omega-3 helps reduce the risk of heart attacks, stroke, or coronary artery disease.

Omega-3 fatty acids are highly concentrated in the brain and appear to be essential for cognitive functions such as memory, performance, and behavioral function. Additionally, EPA has been shown to positively affect alleviating depression, although an exact connection has not been established yet.

Formula

2) What Are Co-Q-Omega Ingredients?

Co-Q-Omega includes the following ingredients: Omega-3 fatty acids EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid), Other Omega-3s, CoQ10, highly refined and concentrated Omega-3 Fish Oil, capsule (gelatin, glycerin, purified water, caramel, titanium dioxide), coenzyme Q10, beeswax, soy lecithin (soy), natural lemon/lime flavor, proprietary antioxidant blend (consisting of rosemary extract, ascorbyl palmitate and natural tocopherols(soy)) and soybean.

3) Is Co-Q-Omega Right for You?

Omega-3 fatty acids are currently considered essential fatty acids the human body needs to function properly. However, the human body cannot produce them independently, and individuals need to acquire it from food, mostly fish, such as salmon, tuna, halibut, and other seafood such as algae, krill, and nut oils; or from dietary supplements.

Research has shown that Omega-3 fatty acids can help reduce inflammation and may even play a role when dealing with heart diseases, arthritis, and cancer.

The two most important Omega-3 fatty acids are EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid).

EPA is usually found in cold-water fatty fish like salmon. It is believed that EPA might help when dealing with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) due to its ability to help develop children’s brains.

So far, results in this matter were rendered inconclusive. Some studies on the EPA found that this essential fatty acid might positively affect diseases that affect the kidneys and lungs, ulcerative colitis, type II diabetes, Anorexia nervosa, Crohn’s disease, and osteoarthritis.

DHA might also help when dealing with ADHD. However, the study that wanted to test this theory was never completed. It isn’t yet clear if DHA has positive results when dealing with depression. Studies suggest that EPA is the fatty acids from Omega-3 fish oils that might help, instead of DHA.

A study made in 2002 on the effects of CoQ10 (coenzyme Q10) in Parkinson’s disease patients reported that this biochemical might actually help reduce the disease’s progression by almost 44%.

However, by the time the study ended, results were mostly inconclusive. Scientists stated that “the investigational drug is unlikely to demonstrate efficacy over placebo for this indication. However, no safety issues were discovered,” making CoQ10 appears to be ineffective.

8) Our Final Take On Co-Q-Omega

Co-Q-Omega is a blend of Omega 3 fatty acids EPA and DHA and Coenzyme Q10. In the light of recent research, which shows the benefits these ingredients have on the brain and mental performance (in terms of memory and concentration), we may assume that the product will deliver on its benefits claims.

Consumer reviews also mention the product’s increased effectiveness, with very little inconveniences (such as the size of the capsules). No side effects or other drug interactions are noted by the manufacturer, either.

However, in rare cases, Co-Q-Omega side effects have been noticed; therefore, we recommend you ask a healthcare provider’s opinion on whether to start using Co-Q-Omega or not.
