DHEA is a dietary supplement which promotes overall youthful mental and physical energy, mood and well-being.

The formula is manufactured by BioSynergy Health Alternatives, a company founded in 1994 which manufactures high quality nutritional supplements that have the potential to increase quality of life and extend life span. The company claims to use high purity all natural raw materials processed in a GMP certified facility. All company products are accompanied by a 30-day money-back guarantee.

DHEA is a hormone naturally manufactured in the human adrenal glands. The hormone is known for a large number of benefits on the immune system, mood and wellbeing, concentration capacity, sleep quality, muscle strength, energy levels, ability to cope with stress and fat levels. Although no specific ailment claims are made by the manufacturer, the product may benefit all of these areas.

DHEA is recommended to adults only.

Summary

1) What is DHEA?

DHEA contains a single ingredient, the hormone called DHEA or dehydroepiandrosterone. The formula is advertised to contain no yeast, dairy, egg, gluten, wheat, corn, sugar, starch, salt, artificial color, flavor, fragrance or preservatives.

DHEA is manufactured in the adrenal glands, after which it breaks down in the body into testosterone and estrogen in men and in women. Although large scale studies on humans have not been conducted to determine its exact benefits, DHEA has been the topic of more than 1000 individual trials in both humans and animal trials over the past 40 years.

For instance, a study conducted on 9 healthy men with an average age of 63 years old who received 50 mg of DHEA daily in an oral dose over a period of 20 weeks showed significantly enhanced immune function. Also, another study where participants (women and men aged between 40 and 70 years old) received a 50 mg daily dose for a six month period revealed that more than 60% of the subjects experienced an increase in perceived physical and psychological well-being, as well as improved sleep and mood.

3) Does DHEA Work?

DHEA Supplement is exactly what its name says it is, a DHEA based supplement. DHEA is short for dehydroepiandrosterone, a hormone secreted by the human body which breaks down into testosterone in men and estrogen in women. Although there were a series of beliefs linking DHEA supplementation with enhanced memory, these beliefs have been proven to be wrong by studies from which research suggested that it had little to no effects upon memory. Another study focused on the usage of DHEA in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease patients found that the hormone showed no evidence of Effectiveness.

However, some medical research has evidence supporting the fact that DHEA might be useful to slow the progress of Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s disease, MS (multiple sclerosis), Addison’s disease, depression, schizophrenia and CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome). More research is needed to demonstrate its Effectiveness in these fields.

For years it has been believed that the DHEA hormone might be useful regarding brain functions, however, more than enough studies have found conclusive evidence to demonstrate that DHEA does not have any effect on the human brain, memory, and other functions. Mostly, it can be regarded as a hormone influencing mood swings, the female and male reproductive system, andropause and menopause and other symptoms related to them.

Also, DHEA supplementation might be useful when dealing with cardiovascular diseases and disorders of the immune system such as lupus. However, studies suggested that DHEA has a positive effect on lupus in short periods of time, in opposition with the long term usage that has yet to be acknowledged.

6) How Much Does DHEA Cost?

DHEA Supplement is an inexpensive dietary supplement that can be found in bottles of 90 capsules of either 25 mg or 50 mg. If the recommended daily dosage is not exceeded a bottle of the DHEA Supplement might last for about three months. The product is available for purchase on the manufacturer’s website or from various other online retailers.

Directions

7) Directions For Taking DHEA

A daily dosage is not clearly defined. Generally, suggested dosage is 25 to 50 mg taken in the morning before breakfast (50 mg for men and 25 mg for women). A physician should be consulted on that matter. The manufacturer claims DHEA has no clinically proven side effects. DHEA can affect how estrogen (in women) and testosterone (in men) works in the body. Caution is recommended for those who have any condition that might be made worse by exposure to these hormones.

Verdict

8) Our Verdict on DHEA

Based on the hormone DHEA, DHEA is mainly promoted to ensure mental and physical energy, mood and well-being. The spectrum of DHEA benefits however is much wider, extending to health areas and conditions such as the immune system or sleep quality. However, many of its benefits have not been scientifically tested or proven in large scale clinical trials. Consumer reviews on the other hand validate the formula’s effectiveness, as consumers frequently report benefits such as increased energy levels, happy and relaxed state of mind and even pain relief associated to PMS.

Therefore we may conclude DHEA will work at least for some consumers. You should however know that a daily dose of DHEA has not been established; therefore it is highly recommended you consult your doctor and run some tests first.

Chris Q.

I`m a 24 year old employee and i had sleeping problems due to a messy schedule. I couldn’t sleep when i had to and i was falling asleep at the bad moment, due to that i also had concentration problems. Since i started using these supplements it turned out that i can sleep regularly and getting the rest i need during sleep periods. Sleep problems? Concentration issues? I feel like i never had them.

the only positive effect i actually got was a good sleep, therefore stress relief, the other claims seem fake to me… or probably i`m not as lucky enough to see the other results in me
