Ironis briefly presented on the official website to contain a high amount of iron needed to maintain the vitality and vigor of the body. The description also underlines the importance of iron in the production of hemoglobin, responsible for the transport of oxygen to the other organs, and for the elimination of carbon dioxide from the lungs.

There are many other health benefits of this mineral and it is very important for people to always check if their iron levels are in normal ranges in order to prevent complications and improve their life style.

Facts

1) Iron Quick Facts

Iron is a mineral based formulation.

The mineral is one of the most important minerals the body requires to function properly. It is present in all human cells and its functions extend to most of the vital organs. The substance can be synthesized from various food sources including meat, vegetables, dried fruits, and iron fortified cereals.

Iron is important for the maintenance of the immune system, mental acuity, healthy respiratory system, healthy blood and circulatory system, cellular health, and a healthy looking skin. It is also an important nutrient for normal growth and development in children. An Iron deficiency results in reduced ability to concentrate, susceptibility to infections, weakness and reduced physical strength. For some of the claims, iron’s properties need further research (for example the ability to improve memory and learning or to help reduce symptoms of depression).

Iron side effects occur when larger amounts of iron are ingested, otherwise it is considered likely safe. Iron poisoning affects mostly children causing liver failure, low blood pressure, and sometimes even death.
Iron may interact with antibiotics and other medication. For a full list of drug interactions it is always best to ask a healthcare practitioner.

Iron contains the following ingredients: Ferrous Sulfate, Dicalcium Phosphate, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Stearic acid, Croscarmellose Sodium, Magnesium Stearate, and Silica.

3) What Does Iron Do?

This product is a mineral based supplement.

Iron is needed for the production of hemoglobin (in the blood), myoglobin (in the muscles), and some enzymes. Iron is needed to produce energy and removes carbon dioxide from the lungs, but the presence of copper and calcium are required for it to complete this function. Vitamin C increases iron absorption.

Iron deficiency is one of the most common affections in women resulting in fatigue, inability to concentrate, low physical performance, and weakness. The deficiency has been speculated to cause a condition called restless leg syndrome, with various studies confirming the hypothesis that the condition is the result of an inefficient processing of iron in the brain, by certain brain cells.

The mineral is present in many foods such as pork, fish, chicken, iron-fortified cereals, beans, spinach, peas, seeds (sunflower, pumpkin), and fruits (prunes, plums, raisins). It is recommended for use in the treatment of anemia, to improve immune function, enhance protein metabolism, increase respiratory function, energy levels, and mental performance, improve the aspect of the skin, but also to promote normal growth and development.

Research established that the recommended daily value is 8 mg per day for men and 18 mg per day for women. This formula contains the equivalent of 50 mg of iron per tablet, amounting to approximately 277%of the recommended daily value.

The number of reviews from consumers is reduced, and there is no evidence of clinical research involving this particular formula.

The recommended dose is one tablet daily during a meal.

Final Thoughts

8) Final Thoughts on Iron

Iron is a nutritional supplement offered by an experienced manufacturer of dietary foods. Research involving iron based products is abundant, although the formula is not tested or clinically researched. The formula comes at a relatively low price, but there is no testimonial to confirm the claimed benefits. More so, as for all nutritional supplements, FDA does not approve its use for the treatment of any condition, making it impossible to accurately evaluate its effects.

Our recommendation is to always inform a healthcare practitioner who can advise about the potential dangers, side effects, and correct dosage of dietary foods.

Alfa Vitamins formula has not helped me very much even though it contains a large quantity of iron. I will finish this first bottle and if I see no improvement I will try some other product.

This is a formula that works for me. I found out I had an iron deficiency a few months ago and since I started the treatment I am feeling more energized and my mind also seems to be sharper.
