Fragile bones are a well-known problem with aging people. This usually happens due to calcium deficiency.[1][2] People can obtain reasonable amounts of calcium from food, but that is not enough all the time. It is here the supplements like Procosa step in to help strengthen bones and heal joint pains and related problems.

There are quite a few calcium-based products available, but Procosa claims to be a premier brand among them.

Read our in-depth Procosa review below to find out how effective it is in this regard.

1) Quick Overview

USANA Procosa is an all-natural supplement claimed to support skeletal and joint health.

According to the manufacturer, Procosa is different due to their patented InCelligence Joint Support Complex proprietary blend consisting of Meriva (an innovative curcumin extract) and Glucosamine HCL.[3]

As an all-natural bone supplement, Procosa is not only suited for elderly people but can also be useful for others who want to achieve and maintain healthy bones and joints.

2) How Did Procosa Start?

Procosa is made by USANA, a multi-level company founded in 1992. USANA is known for developing various nutritional products, skincare products, and dietary supplements. Some of their best sellers include Proflavanol C100, Biomega, CoQuinone 30, Hepasil DTX, and CellSentials.

Most USANA supplements are made in the company’s facility, located in West Valley City. As an MLM company, USANA sells in 24 different countries through several distributors.

USANA was listed in “200 Best small companies” by Forbes in 2007. In 2015 was listed as the 24th largest multi-level company in the world regarding its total revenue.[4][5]

3) Details on Procosa Ingredients and Uses

Procosa includes the following ingredients:

  • Magnesium 44 mg
  • Vitamin C 225 mg
  • Potassium 94 mg
  • Manganese 5 mg
  • InCelligence Joint Support Complex (Glucosamine HCL 1,500 mg and Meriva Bioavailable Curcumin Complex 260 mg)

Other ingredients include modified cellulose, soy lecithin, microcrystalline cellulose, ascorbyl palmitate, croscarmellose sodium, calcium silicate, dextrin, dextrose, and sodium citrate.

4) Does Procosa Work?

Procosa is not your average joint supplement. Most similar supplements deliver glucosamine with chondroitin sulfate. However, an observational study determined that using the Meriva Bioavailable Curcumin Complex and glucosamine is more efficient than the combination of chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine.[6][7]

This improved absorption rate is why you will find both ingredients in Procosa’s patented InCelligence Joint-Support Complex.

Glucosamine is an amino sugar and a precursor in the generation of cartilage.[8] Healthy cartilage production is crucial because cartilage acts as a shock absorber and prevents bones from grinding together. Unfortunately, as we age, cartilage can become more fragile, and our bodies have a more challenging time maintaining cartilage health.[9]

Glucosamine is also a building block of proteoglycans – protein molecules essential for healthy cartilage. They bind the water that cushions and lubricates the joints.

There is some research supporting the benefits of glucosamine supplementation. Several clinical studies have shown joint health benefits associated with taking glucosamine. This includes demonstrating that joint space can be better maintained with supplementation.[10][11][12]

Lastly, the glucosamine used in Procosa is vegetarian-friendly. Unlike most dietary supplements for joint and bone health, where glucosamine is derived from crab shells and chitin found in shrimp, Procosa uses plant-derived glucosamine (Aspergillus niger), making it easier for vegetarians to find a joint supplement that’s right for them.

Another important ingredient for joint health is curcumin – the principal curcuminoid of the Indian spice turmeric. Curcumin is rarely soluble in water or oily solvents, which results in low bioavailability.[13][14]

A solution to this problem comes in the form of Meriva, a delivery form of curcumin with lecithin.

Essentially, Meriva is an innovative phytosome that allows for dramatically improved absorption and bioavailability, making it an ideal pairing for glucosamine.[15]

A study[16] published in the Journal of Natural Products, co-authored by USANA scientists, concluded that Meriva delivers an impressive bioavailability improvement compared to standard curcumin from turmeric extracts.

8) Who Sells Procosa?

Procosa can be ordered online from different stores. Still, our recommendation is to either buy it directly from the manufacturer or purchase it from trusted online retailers such as Amazon and Walmart, which may also offer discounts and free shipping.

9) Procosa Price

12) Our Verdict on Procosa
