Listol is a natural formulation meant to treat the symptoms of ADD and ADHD. The product is developed by Progressive Health, a company founded in the United States in 1997. The company is focused on developing and producing natural treatments for conditions normally treated with prescription medication. Their aim is to provide natural remedies that are accessible to all age groups, and with a constantly-expanding base of medication, they seem to be close to reaching their goal.

Listol aims to provide a natural alternative to conventional ADHD medication, claiming to be one of the most effective solutions for this serious condition. It is advertised as being non-toxic and presenting a considerably smaller amount of side-effects compared to conventional medication.

If you find yourself having experience concentrating on tasks, having random outbursts of energy, or if your child is experiencing these symptoms, then Listol might be the right solution for you.

Summary

1) What is Listol?

Listol is a formulation of minerals and amino-acids, advertised as being carefully selected to deal with the effects of ADHD.

Calcium is a supplement normally administered to help fasten the healing of bone fractures. It is also used to reduce diarrhea in patients with bowel disease. There is some speculation that it can also improve cognitive capacities, but these effects are still undergoing testing and have yet to be confirmed. The same can be said about Copper, normally used to treat acne and hypertension, Magnesium, used in the treatment of heartburn and Iron, a mineral used to treat iron deficiency which is a common cause of anemia. Note that all of these minerals can have toxic effects if taken in large doses.

GABA is a very special type of amino-acid with a large role in regulating neurotransmission. It has proven relaxing and anti-anxiety effects, but its major downfall is that it does not cross the brain-blood barrier in large amounts.

Huperzine A is a substance extracted from a type of moss. It is clinically proven to improve cognitive capacities and enhance memory. Unfortunately, the side effects of it include insomnia, irritability, vomiting, and diarrhea. It is also contained in small amounts in Listol, making its effectiveness unsure in this particular supplement.

What’s easily noticeable is that most of the active ingredients included in this formulation have no proven effects in treating ADHD and are still undergoing trials in this sense.

What’s Inside?

2) What’s Inside Listol?

Listol contains the following ingredients: Calcium (as Calcium Carbonate), Copper (as copper gluconate), DMAE Bitartrate, Di-Methyl Glycine, GABA Powder, Glycine, Huperzine A Extract (Huperzia serrata) (moss), Iron (as Iron Citrate), Magnesium (as Magnesium Oxide), Phosphatidylserine, Vitamin B6 (as Pyridoxine HCL), Zinc (as zinc oxide), Gelatin, Rice Powder, and Magnesium Stearate.

Similar formulas for kids with ADHD are also available. One of these brands is Source Naturals Attentive Child.

3) Is Listol Right for You?

According to the producing company, the benefits of using Listol are exponential, allowing patients who have ADHD to be able to function normally once again without having to take potent drugs that could cause a lot of problems in their life. As you may know, all chemical drugs are associated with numerous side effects, some of them extremely dangerous. Listol is advertised as an all-natural product, reducing the risk of side effects occurrence. This claim is supported by consumers who report no side effects or a minimal number of side effects associated with use.

The GABA has been included as there is research to suggest that GABA pathways in the brain appear to play a role in certain cognitive disorders like ADHD. This is correct to a certain extent, but as we have noted, this needs to be produced in a natural manner without artificial help. Synthetic GABA does not usually cross the blood brain barrier. Hence effects are short term.

It is much wiser to have the correct balance of vital amino acids and neuro-nutrients in the body, which will affect and balance the brain. The reason for this is that they are natural products that the body demands and can deal with, without any side effects, or peaks of crashes.

This product includes many amino acids and associated neuro-nutrients. One such example is vitamin B6, which is found in many whole foods such as chicken, eggs, bananas, whole grains and rice. This will increase Serotonin and facilitates the absorption of neuro-amino acids. Serotonin is an essential neurotransmitter that is responsible for certain behavioral traits. Low Serotonin levels have been linked to depressed moods and ADHD.

Unfortunately, this product has been known to produce a foul smell. The company notes under the warnings and precautions section that the powerful ingredients in this formulation may produce a very potent smell. If this smell is unbearable, they advise their customers to let their capsules sit on a counter for 15 minutes until the smell dissipates.

Hopefully letting some air get to the capsules will solve this issue for anyone who decides to try this formula. Nevertheless, the bad smell may also drive potential consumers away. There are numerous Listol reviews which you can consult online. What is being said includes:

  • I have been on this supplement for two years with no side effects whatsoever and with the best results

  • I take this for myself and my son, and we are both well, more rested and more focused than ever

5) Listol Product Warnings

  • Product effectiveness is not fully attested;

Cost

6) How Much Does Listol Cost?

Listol is an averagely-priced supplement, compared with other chemical treatments for ADHD. Nevertheless, Listol is more expensive than many other natural alternatives available on the market. One bottle contains 30 capsules, enough for up to 10 days of treatment at a recommended dosage of 3 to 6 capsules a day. A 6 months guarantee is available for the product, and free delivery is also an option for larger volume purchases.

Dosing

7) Listol Serving Size

The recommended dose for Listol is 3-6 capsules a day. It is considered safe for both child and adult use. A drawback that the product has is the extremely unpleasant smell the tablets have, but the company website provides consumers with instructions for dealing with this issue.

Bottom Line

8) Our Bottom Line

Many people are drawn towards natural products, hoping that they’ll experience fewer side effects. However, it is important to understand that each individual is unique and so are his needs. One product may be effective in some and entirely ineffective in others.

It is also important to understand that ADHD is a very hard to diagnose condition (even with professional help). While Listol does not require prescription, our strong recommendation is to not purchase or use any ADHD treatments until you consult with your doctor.

That is not to say that Listol doesn’t work; there is a large number of testimonials and customer reviews that support the producer’s claim. And with the 180-day return policy and reduced chances of side-effects, consumers seem to have little to lose.
