Synopsis

1) Clear Thoughts at a Glance

Clear Thoughts mixes vitamins, herbal supplements and nutrients in a formula which promotes short term memory and thinking performance. The formula contains no wheat, gluten, yeast, dairy, corn, soy, sugar, starch and artificial colors or flavors.

Phosphatidylserine (PS) is a phospholipid which has been the topic of numerous human and animal clinical studies. These were designed to test the benefits of PS in reducing the risk of dementia and other cognitive impairment conditions such as Alzheimer’s. Phosphatidylserine seems to work by promoting the synthesis of key neurotransmitters Acetylcholine and Dopamine. These neurotransmitters are involved in regulating essential cognitive and behavioral functions such as memory, attention and mood. Although it is generally considered safe, PS can cause insomnia and stomach upset.

Ginkgo Biloba is one of the most popular herbal supplements for memory enhancement available today. Its memory enhancing properties are one just one of its benefits which derive from Ginkgo’s blood circulation enhancing and antioxidant properties. Ginkgo Biloba has sometimes been associated to some side effects such as headache, dizziness, nausea and diarrhea. Also, safety concerns exist regarding its interaction with blood thinning medication.

2) What Are Clear Thoughts Ingredients?

3) Does Clear Thoughts Work?

Clear Thought is a dietary supplement comprised of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and herbs. According to the manufacturer, this formula provides vitamins and mineral required for healthy nerve transmission and circulatory function, and it includes complementary herbs. While further evidence is needed to prove the Effectiveness of the overall product, some ingredients found in Clear Thoughts have been scientifically proven to be beneficial for the human brain.

For example, L-Tyrosine has been found to be useful during conditions of stress, prolonged work and sleep deprivation (with reductions in stress hormone levels) and also to improve cognitive and physical performance in humans. Another key ingredient is Ginkgo biloba, which has neuroprotective properties, offers antioxidant protection and increases the blood flow to the brain. With better vascularization, more oxygen is provided to the brain cells, making them work faster. Preliminary evidence points to the fact that the Vitamin B complex can also increase cognitive performance.

This formula also seems to offer antioxidant protection, neutralizing the free radical attack. You should not use if you are pregnant or nursing. As with any other supplement, one should consult a doctor before taking it. The recommended dosage is one capsule twice daily with a meal.

8) Our Bottom Line

Clear Thoughts provides nutritional support for enhanced memory and thinking power in a formula which combines vitamins, herbal ingredients and other nutrients. This is a dietary supplement and like most, its benefits are not supported by any clear evidence. We may however assume that the formula will work and accomplish its purpose by looking at the ingredient list. The majority of the ingredients have been traditionally used and/or scientifically proven to impact cognitive function, one way or another.

It is also important to note that side effects have sometimes been experienced in relation to individual ingredients of the formula. This is why we advise caution and a thorough documentation before starting treatment.

I used Clear Thoughts to help with my concentration level while writing software applications. It’s the only product I’ve used that truly worked for me. Rexall Showcase International first developed this product before Unicity started manufacturing it. There was also another product by Rexall called InVigRol that also worked very well and did not contain caffeine or ephedra. It was also homeopathic. I have taken the CognoBlend by Rexall/Unity. I preferred Clear Thoughts but CognoBlend is also a fine product.
